Onward and upward: Introducing the Cameraygal Wind Symphony

Today the LCCB Organisation announces the renaming of its senior ensemble as the ‘Cameraygal Wind Symphony’. In its new period of growth as a flagship ensemble and in its musical ambassadorial position amongst the community bands of Australia and potentially internationally, the band and its new Music Director David Worrall, have decided to rebrand the band accordingly.

The Lane Cove Concert Band organisation is a unique community group in Sydney with a proud 50 year history and now boasting 6 ensembles with a membership of 140 people. It is important that the flagship ensemble represents this organisation within the small but specialised world of wind bands in Australia.” explains David. “Many similar bands are adopting a brand name similar to ensembles in the USA, Britain and Europe. The name ‘Cameraygal’ is an important link to our indigenous people of the Lane Cove area so this is an essential name to maintain.”

The Cameraygal Wind Symphony will be proudly supporting the Lane Cove Council, RSL Club and community at ANZAC Day this year, in the Plaza at 7.30am and can be heard in concert at St Stephen’s Anglican Church Willoughby on 15 June and 21 September. Details at www.lccb.org.au
